What is On The Couch? Season 4 Trailer
Winnie Adamson: On The Couch is where we collaborate with experts, practitioners, authors, advocates, and influencers to explore current social themes, sex positive topics, and share stories and insights that matter. My name is Winnie Adamson, and along with my colleague Maddy Stratten, we produce and co-host the podcast and vodcast series On The Couch.
This podcast was recorded on Aboriginal country. We Acknowledge the rightful custodians of the lands that were never seeded on, which we live, work, and record upon. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and to those who may be visiting our website or listening to our podcast today.
Maddy Stratten: Share Affection, not infection, is our saying at Caddyshack Project, which is quite fitting for us as sexual health promotion officers working in a program promoting a positive approach to sex and sexuality for young people. To place ourselves we work in the Illawarra Shoalhaven local Health District, HIV, and Related Programs. Unit on Dhawaral and Yuin Country
Winnie Adamson: On The Couch is an innovative tool that enhances professional [00:01:00] development by encouraging self-reflection, challenging biases, and ultimately overcoming stigma.
Maddy Stratten: Our aim is to build capacity for sexual health conversations that are culturally responsive and provides practical steps to address inequities of our priority populations.
Winnie Adamson: We have an epic lineup of guests and we have strong themes that run through each season. We platform key themes like gender diversity, disability, young people, consent, sex therapy, culture, healthy relationships, LGBTQIA plus community care, advocacy, human rights, sexual health, and sex education.
Maddy Stratten: Yeah, and our format is really conversational.
It's research driven, accessible, and links to further learning. The on-demand nature fills a gap and engages with our audience through peer-led, community informed storytelling, prioritizing marginalized voices.
Winnie Adamson: We just wrapped up our 2025 season of On The Couch where we had guests like Professor Kath Albury and Professor Jennifer Power, who in their episodes shared [00:02:00] their research in young people's digital cultures and sexual health, social scripts, and the study of sex.
Maddy Stratten: Popular episodes this season have been Sex, Relationships and Consent with Tom and Adie from the Sticky Q's Podcast, and also a really unique in-person screening with local drag stars, diving into the topic of drag as a performance and trans is an identity.
Winnie Adamson: It was an honor to have well-known names On The Couch, like Soaliha Iqbal, who explored Muslim women feminism and tokenism in the workplace, and Katrina Marson, who reflected on her work in sexual violence prevention and the power of sex ed.
Maddy Stratten: We shone a light on HIV with Joseph Garrington from ACON and an episode with Kyla Lawson from Women's Partners New South Wales.
Winnie Adamson: 2025 was a great season, and so as we move into 2026, we're feeling really energized To further explore these themes.
Maddy Stratten: We create this podcast because we're allies in actively challenging discrimination, microaggressions and exclusionary behaviors.
Winnie Adamson: We wanna create spaces [00:03:00] where people feel safe to share their thoughts, knowing they'll be heard and respected. Such an environment fosters collaboration, innovation, and contributes to a more inclusive society.
Until next time, peace, love, and protection.
